FAQs

Have you got any questions about booking a funky house dj? Hopefully they will be answered here…

What kind of music do you play?

I can play a mixture of different styles of dance music, however I specialise in upfront and classic funky house. The funky house music that I play is very vocaly, very uplifting, with a splash of disco and funky basslines. If you are familiar with the Defected Records label, the artists Soul Avengerz, or the Hed Kandi compilations then these are a good example of what I play. I can also play oldskool house (1990 - 1996) and classic Garage (1999 - 2001).

To hear some of my mixes, check out my funky house mixes page.

How much do you charge?

My fee varies based on different factors. I take into account the venue location, the capacity of the vanue, the reputation of the event/venue, bank holiday bookings and other various aspects. I am not able to specify an accurate quote on this site as everybody's circumstances are different, so please get in touch and email me your requirements. I will then be able to quote you for your event.

Can I book you for a whole night or just an hour?

You can book me for as long as you like! I am available to play for any amount of time from one hour, to nine hours. But if you do book me for 9 hours, make sure you supply a bottle for me to pee into.

What experience do you have?

I have been DJing as an amatuer since 1996, professionaly since 1999 and I have played for crowds between 100 and 1500 people. For an overview of my experience, you can view my biography.

How can you help my event with publicity and promotion?

I have built up a network of places where I can publicise and promote any event that I am booked to play at. I can place listings on djpages.com, dontstayin.com, harderfaster.net, upcoming.org, facebook.com, myspace.com, plus a few other high profile event forums and dance community web sites. Not only this, but I have an ever-growing targeted mailing list that I can send out direct emails to informing them of events I shall be appearing at. I run a podcast via iTunes which is listened to regularly by an estimated 10,000 per month that can be utilised to send out promotional messages for events. When I'm not DJing, I am a busy graphic designer and have produced artwork for many different companies and events including Raindance - so if you require a web site built or flyers designed you know where to come. This website you are looking at is actually my very own handywork.

What equipment do you supply?

Not a lot. I have earned my reputation through being a club DJ. I am not a mobile DJ, nor a disco DJ and as such I do not carry mobile DJing equipment. All venues I play at are assumed to have a full light and sound installation and adequate power supply. If required I am able to supply a pair of CD and/or vinyl decks. I will bring my own music, headphones, microphone and needle/cartridges. If you are unsure, please get in touch anyway and if I am not the right person for the job, I can point you in the direction of someone who is.

What dates are you available?

I have no idea. Unfortunately I am too busy to update this site on a daily basis with a calendar of dates, however if you contact me with details of your event I will be sure to let you know if I am available.

Back to FAQs

Do you have PLI (Public Liability Insurance)?

Yes I do have PLI, as should any other reputable professional DJ. I am adequately covered and can produce certification if requested. DO NOT BOOK A DJ THAT DOES NOT HAVE PLI. This type of insurance covers any awards of damages given to a member of the public because of an injury or damage to their property caused by the DJ. It also covers any related legal fees, costs and expenses as well as costs of hospital treatment (including ambulance costs) that the NHS may claim from the DJ.

How do I get in touch?

I do not publicly display my mobile number because there are too many lunatics out there. The best way to get in touch is via email. Please allow reasonable time for a response during busy seasonal periods. You can find my email address at the top of this page. If you are a social networking whizzkid, come find me on MySpace or Facebook
